It started with a text message at fourinthemorning.
TempStars was built by Dr. James Younger, a practising dentist who lived the problem in his own practice. It now runs on both sides of the chair, right across North America.
University of Toronto Dentistry, 1999. Most of his career in private practice, and today practising in a hospital setting serving patients with mental health needs.
A text from one of our hygienists. She is sick and cannot make it in.
A full day of hygiene patients, first chair at 8:00 am, and four hours before anyone else is even awake to help.
Do I drive in right now and try to catch people before they leave home? A frantic, stressful morning either way.
Every dental office has this morning. Every hygienist has an open day somewhere. They just have no way to find each other in time.
“With modern mobile technology, there has to be a way to connect dental offices directly with hygienists.”
That thought took nearly two years of work to become something real. TempStars launched in 2015, built by a dentist rather than a recruiter, and it has grown to serve dental assistants and admin professionals as well as hygienists, plus a job board for permanent hiring.
One platform. Two sides of the chair.
A dental temp platform only works if it is genuinely good for both sides. That was the founding condition, and it still decides every call we make.
Take the panic out of the 6am text.
A way to find a good hygienist, assistant or admin quickly and easily, without ringing round, without a recruiter, and without an agency fee for the privilege.
A career on your own terms.
The freedom to build a busy, flexible, genuinely empowered professional life. You choose the days, you set your rate, and nobody pressures you into work you did not pick.
We get it, and we care.
Every decision we make still comes back to those two purposes: take the panic out of the morning for offices, and give dental professionals a career on their own terms.
Built by a dentist. Run by real people.
Join the dental offices and professionals across North America who temp the way it should work.
