Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Level II Dental Assistant to join our specialist prosthodontic team. In this role, you will work closely alongside our prosthodontist, providing expert chairside support with four-handed dentistry during complex restorative and prosthetic procedures. Your responsibilities will include setting up and assisting with crown and bridge preparations, veneers, implant restorations, and denture appointments, as well as taking final impressions, digital scans, bite registrations, and facebow records. You will fabricate, adjust, and place provisional crowns and bridges as delegated, and assist with implant surgery, healing abutments, impression copings, and implant-supported prostheses. Additional clinical duties include placing and removing retraction cord and isolation materials, pouring, trimming, and articulating study models and working casts, and taking shade records along with intraoral and extraoral clinical photographs for lab cases. You will prepare lab prescriptions, track cases with dental laboratories, and take intraoral, panoramic, and CBCT radiographs. Performing coronal polishing, topical fluoride, and other Level II duties as delegated, providing post-operative and prosthesis care instructions, and reviewing health histories to prepare patients for treatment are also key aspects of this position. You will follow RCDSO infection prevention and control standards, sterilize instruments and handpieces, manage inventory of prosthodontic materials and implant components, document treatment, and communicate with referring dentists. The ideal candidate holds a graduate diploma from an accredited Level II Dental Assisting program in Ontario, along with Level II certification (NDAEB/CDAC) in good standing. ODAA membership is considered an asset. Current CPR/BLS certification and up-to-date training in radiography and infection prevention and control are required. A minimum of one year of chairside experience is expected, with prosthodontic, restorative, or implant experience being a strong advantage. Experience with intraoral scanners such as 3D Shining, Sirios, or 3Shape, as well as CAD/CAM technology, is an asset. Proficiency with the Sterilwize System in the sterilization centre and dental practice software (Curve) is also required. We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, particularly with shade matching and lab communication, along with excellent communication skills when working with patients during long appointments or those who experience dental anxiety. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small specialist team is essential. Candidates with knowledge of implant systems and components, experience with digital smile design or photography protocols, or familiarity with occlusal splints, night guards, and maxillofacial prosthetics will be considered especially competitive. If you are passionate about prosthodontic dentistry and thrive in a detail-oriented, patient-focused environment, we would love to hear from you.
