It may seem strange that we’re protective about access to the contact information of TempStars hygienists and dental assistants, but here’s why:
Early on when we first launched, we were open and free about providing contact information about the temps. What ended up happening is some unscrupulous dental offices would post jobs, get a bunch of offers, remove the postings and contact the hygienists directly. There were also a number of offices contacting temps directly after a placement to try to circumvent our very reasonable placement fee.
While this certainly wasn’t the majority of offices, it was happening often enough that we had to address it.
At the same time, I do appreciate that we don’t want to ruin the experience for the offices with integrity using the service as intended, just to protect against some bad apples. It’s a balancing act we’re constantly thinking about, which is why we’re trying this “window” of the phone number.
In the near future, we’ll be building in a secure messaging system that allows exchange of messages between offices and temps within the TempStars app, so that will address this issue nicely.
If it helps, we also have a feature that allows a custom document to be uploaded to your profile. Some offices do like the temps to call the office once they’re booked, so we upload a document advising the temps to call the office once they’ve booked a shift. The document is seen by any temp who books with your office. That way you’d get some contact with the temp once the shift is booked.
