Registered Dental Hygienist

Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical Care - Conduct comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including medical/dental history review, periodontal charting, and oral cancer screenings. - Perform scaling, root planing, and polishing to remove plaque, calculus, and stains. - Apply preventive agents such as fluoride and dental sealants. - Expose, process, and interpret dental radiographs as required. - Assist in diagnosis by documenting findings and collaborating with the dentist. - Recognize and respond to dental emergencies within scope of practice. 2. Patient Education & Preventive Care - Provide patient education on proper brushing, flossing, and oral hygiene techniques. - Motivate and support patients in developing long-term preventive oral care habits. - Educate patients about periodontal disease, caries prevention, and the oral-systemic health connection. 3. Administrative & Collaborative Duties - Accurately document all clinical procedures, findings, and patient communications in the dental record. - Follow strict infection control and sterilization protocols in compliance with regulatory standards. - Work collaboratively with dentists, assistants, and office staff to ensure efficient patient care. - Monitor and maintain hygiene equipment and supplies.
